A group of WCS birders has been surveying Bronx Zoo grounds for nesting wild birds. They’re turning up some surprising finds...and in some surprising places. Take a birding tour with one member of the crew.
In May, six baby ibises hatched in the zoo’s Wild Asia Plaza—a major accomplishment for a flock of birds whose wild cousins number just 400. And it wasn’t easy. Getting the birds to mate took a trip to Austria, an ipod, and some very wild sounds.
During Earth Week, SONY employees helped the Bronx Zoo prepare for the opening of the Wild Asia Exhibit.
WCS is launching a petition drive and letter-writing campaign against the devastating cuts to the state budget line that funds 80 zoos, botanical gardens and aquariums across New York State, including WCS’s Bronx Zoo and the New York Aquarium.
